A Fantastic Evacuee Day!
Year 3 and 4 pupils had a fantastic time as they took part in a memorable Evacuee Day, stepping back in time to experience life during World War II. The children looked amazing in their evacuee costumes, truly bringing the past to life!
We embarked on an exciting journey using our very own “time machine” and travelled back to the days of WWII. Throughout the day, the pupils engaged in meaningful and educational activities, including drama, where they acted out life as an evacuee, and literacy activities, where they explored letters and stories from the time. They received their own letter from home.
A special highlight was welcoming Erin, a nurse, to our classroom. Erin shared valuable insights into the important role health checks played for evacuees before they were sent to the countryside. Her visit gave the pupils a deeper understanding of how medical care was crucial for those leaving their homes.
It was a wonderful day of learning, creativity, and fun, and the pupils truly embraced the opportunity to step into the shoes of young evacuees.
