Evacuee Day
On Thursday, Year 3, 4 and 5 had their WW2 evacuation day. We caught the train from the city to the countryside and as we arrived in the country we went to the village hall where we were then escorted to our new school.
Throughout the day, we did lots of fun activities. We enjoyed writing in Morse Code and practising our handwriting, as well painting poppy pictures to remember the soldiers that gave their lives for ours. Using our technology skills, we recorded Winston Churchill’s speech, when he declared the war was finally over! Miss Freeburn made us waffles with ice-cream, strawberries and chocolate sauce to celebrate VE Day.
After lunch time we received a very special delivery. This was a letter from all our mums and dads, writing to see how we were getting on with our host families and letting us know how much they missed us. We had a fantastic day!
