Pumpkins, Poems and Autumn Creativity
23rd Oct 2025
Autumn has arrived in KS2, and the classroom has been buzzing with creativity!
In art, the pupils explored the rich colours and shapes of the season:
- P5 focused on the close-up patterns of pumpkins, practicing curved shapes and using tonal oranges to add depth to their drawings.
- P6 experimented with light and shadow, learning to create roundness and dimension in their pumpkin artwork.
- P7 took on still life, arranging fruits and vegetables for harvest-themed compositions, capturing the colours and textures of autumn.
Our creative work didn’t stop at art! The children also wrote some beautiful Autumn poems:
- P5 composed acrostic poems, celebrating the letters that spell out the season.
- P6 created kennings poems, playing with descriptive phrases to bring autumn to life.
- P7 tried their hand at haiku, crafting short, thoughtful poems inspired by the sights and feelings of the season.
It’s been wonderful to see KS2 combining observation, imagination, and careful attention to detail to capture the magic of autumn in both art and poetry.
