STEM Friday Fun
4th Mar 2022
Year 3, 4 and 5 had lots of fun today carrying out a, Fruity Sweets Colour Mixing experiment.
We wrote up a Scientific Investigation were we had to:
- Make a prediction
- Write a list of equipment
- Write a method
- Draw the investigation
- Record our results
- Write about what we have learnt
Prediction
We predicted that when we add water to the skittles the colour of the skittles will run.
Method:
- First, place the coloured sweets around the edge of the plate in a circle shape.
- Then, get some warm water in a jug.
- Next, pour the warm water into the middle of the circle until it reaches the sweets.
- Watch what happens
The Science Bit
The shells of the coloured sweets are made from sugar. When the sugar is put in warm water, it dissolves. As the colours meet, they mix, creating different colours.
This experiment reminded us about our learning on our Growth Mindset. When we have a Positive Growth Mindset we can do beautiful and wonderful things too!
Have a look at our great work!
