Accurate Angles in KS2

3rd Jun 2026

Today in Maths, KS2 became angle detectives! Our classroom desks had been transformed using duct tape to create a variety of patterns filled with different angles. πŸ”Ž

We used protractors to carefully measure each angle. As we worked, we discovered that the taped patterns also contained a range of shapes, including triangles and quadrilaterals. Using our angle measurements, we investigated the total angles within these shapes and discovered that the angles in a triangle add up to 180° and the angles in a quadrilateral add up to 360°. To check the accuracy of our work, we added our measured angles together. If the totals did not match the expected amount, we knew we needed to remeasure and check our calculations. πŸ”ΊπŸ“πŸŸ¦

Primary 5 pupils focused on identifying and classifying angles within the patterns. Using our 90-degree checkers, we searched for and identified right angles. We then looked for angles smaller than a right angle and labelled them as acute angles. We discovered angles larger than a right angle and labelled them as obtuse angles.
