📚 Aughnacloy College Taster Day ✏️

24th Mar 2026

Primary 6 pupils were treated to a fantastic taster day at Aughnacloy College on Monday, where the chosen topic for the day was ‘food’.

The day commenced with some sensational scientific demonstrations by Rok from the Armagh Observatory and Planetarium, on how we digest food. Rok conducted many experiments, some involving our very own pupils who bravely volunteered. It was a very fun way to learn and the children thoroughly enjoyed the class.

During the DT (Design & Technology) session the children used various techniques to create their very own egg-cellent egg cup holder which they were able to keep. Huge well done to our pupils who received a certificate for their creations!

For the final class, pupils were presented with a mathematical challenge and had to use their new mathematical skills to find clues and work out who was given the last rolo. Well done to our P6 pupils who were first to solve the mystery and received a very well deserved certificate.

The event concluded with a lovely lunch which was very kindly provided by Aughnacloy College. The children all had a wonderful day and it was a fantastic opportunity to experience what school life would be like in Aughnacloy College.
