👷🏼‍♂️ KS2: Enthusiastic Engineers ⚙️

22nd May 2026

Our pupils recently had the exciting opportunity to work alongside Kiverco as part of a hands-on engineering and sustainability project.

The project began with a visit to Kiverco, where the children enjoyed a fascinating factory tour. They learned about the important role conveyor belts play in waste management and recycling, while gaining an insight into the engineering and manufacturing processes involved.

Inspired by what they had seen, the children spent their first workshop session designing their own conveyor belts. Working in teams, they demonstrated creativity and teamwork by developing a company name and designing a unique logo to represent their business.

During the second session, the teams brought their designs to life by constructing their conveyor belts. The children faced the challenge of ensuring that their belts could move effectively, applying problem-solving and engineering skills throughout the building process.

In the final session, the pupils tested their conveyor belts to see if they could successfully transport and sort recyclable waste materials. They carefully evaluated their designs, made adjustments where necessary and worked collaboratively to improve their conveyor systems.

This fantastic project provided the children with valuable opportunities to develop their STEM skills, creativity, teamwork and understanding of sustainability. We would like to thank Kiverco for their support and for providing such an engaging and inspiring learning experience for our pupils.
