World Maths Day: A Menu For Success 🍗🍟💷
29th Mar 2026
Last week, Key Stage 2 had great fun celebrating World Maths Day with a tasty twist on numeracy!
Although we sadly didn’t get to visit Nando’s, we brought the experience into the classroom by using their menu to plan our own ideal meals. The challenge was to create orders for different families while sticking to a set budget. From starters to mains and desserts, we carefully selected items, added totals and worked out the correct change.
There was plenty to think about; was it better value to order individual items or choose a meal deal with sides included? The children had to manage information, make sensible choices and ensure all their calculations were accurate.
The activity sparked lots of discussion, problem-solving, and teamwork as pupils explored different ways to get the best value for money. It was an enjoyable and memorable way to develop our confidence in using maths in everyday situations.
